Getting Started with Neptune Core

Neptune Core is an anonymous peer-to-peer cryptocurrency built in Rust. Follow the installation instructions below to get started with the Neptune network.

Windows Users: Follow the Windows installation instructions for Rust and Cargo. Installing cargo might require Visual Studio with C++ support, but the cargo installer should handle that.

Installation: Install Rust and Cargo, then build Neptune Core.

Install Rust and Cargo: Download and install Rust from rustup.rs, which includes Cargo (Rust's package manager)
Clone the Repository: git clone https://github.com/Neptune-Crypto/neptune-core.git
Enter the Repository: cd neptune-core
Checkout Release Branch: git checkout release for stable version (or use master for development)
Build the Binaries: cargo install --locked --path neptune-core and cargo install --locked --path neptune-cli and cargo install --locked --path neptune-dashboard

Running & Connecting: Once installed, follow these steps to start using Neptune Core.

Generate a Wallet: neptune-cli generate-wallet
Run Neptune Core Daemon: neptune-core with flags like --peer 51.15.139.238:9798
Start Mining (Optional): Add --compose --guess flags to mine coins
Launch Dashboard: neptune-dashboard to interact with your wallet and monitor the network
Use CLI Commands: neptune-cli --help to see all available commands

Important: Any commit except the one tagged release is considered an unstable development commit and carries a higher risk of database corruption and/or loss of funds.
